James Charles Thomas, Jr.

James Charles Thomas Jr., of Westfield, New Jersey, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on April 20, 1949, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Jim was the beloved son of James and Genevieve (Ricci) Thomas. He was raised in Wayne, Pennsylvania, graduated from Radnor High School in 1967, and went on to attend Niagara University.


A proud and dedicated steamfitter, Jim was a member of Local 475 for more than 40 years. He was respected for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and the many friendships he formed throughout his career. A devoted longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, Jim faithfully served in numerous volunteer roles over many decades.


Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, warm spirit, and remarkable ability to speak with anyone and make them feel like a lifelong friend. His sense of humor and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.


He was predeceased by his first wife, Monica; second wife and mother of his children, Deborah; and third wife, Alison. Jim is survived by his three children, Maxwell (Nicole), Benjamin (Christina), and Grace (Tony); as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Mia, Ryan, and Olivia.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Westfield, New Jersey.
