Lawrence M. Cyre (Larry) passed away on June 24, 2026 at the age of 82. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gray & Pescitelli Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford. The funeral ceremony will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM, followed by a procession to Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ, for the committal ceremony.
Larry was born on April 11, 1944, to parents Felix and Agatha (Tanis) Cyre. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era. In 1969, Larry married Nancy Shubert, and they shared many happy years together. He graduated from Kean University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree. He was employed by The Prudential Insurance Company and worked in the Data Department at both the Newark and Florham Park locations.
After retiring from the corporate world, he was employed by the Roselle Park Board of Education as a substitute teacher. He enjoyed his time working in the school system and made many friends there. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed golf and bowling. He kept a keen eye on the financial world, researching investment opportunities. He loved the Jersey Shore and Long Beach Island.
Larry was a loving husband, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor, and he will be deeply missed by many. He was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Agatha (Tanis) Cyre.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Shubert) Cyre; his sister, Myrna Licks; his brother-in-law, Robert Shubert and his wife Eileen. His nephews David Licks and wife Suzanne, their children Andrew and wife Emily, Allison, and Amanda; Robert Shubert and wife Michelle; Scott Shubert and wife Tammy, and their children Ashley and Bailey; along with many other extended family members and friends.
Larry will live in the hearts of many, and his light will continue to shine through those he held close. May he rest in peace.
